Armadealo was founded in May of 2009. We are a privately funded company with office locations in Palo Alto, California and Boston, Massachusetts. The founders have experience in digital marketing and communications, rapid and scalable system development, and business law.

Management

Matt Greer
Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer, Armadealo, Inc.

Mr. Greer started his professional career in advertising and marketing by joining American Graphics, the largest advertising specialty company in the United States. His first position was Manager of the Creative Department.

Mr. Greer joined Vivo Software, Inc. as Webmaster in 1995, where he oversaw all aspects of the corporate website. He also managed the technical support department, and assisted in developing a web-based eCRM system that supported the 7 million users of the VivoActive Player, a video player that enabled users to watch video from within a webpage. In 1998, RealNetworks (NASDAQ: RNWK) acquired Vivo Software.

Mr. Greer served as the Chief Executive Officer of Zeeo Interactive, Inc, a company he founded in July of 1998. Zeeo Interactive was a multi-disciplined digital marketing agency helping businesses in eCRM solutions and ecommerce solutions. Clients included IBM, Fidelity Investments, Bank of America, and Time Warner.

Mr. Greer graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in 1985. In 1989 he graduated from Lafayette College with a B.A. in Economics. He is a Board Member of Commerce Register, Inc. Over the past decade, Greer has been actively involved in The St. Francis House and The Kingston House, two homeless shelters in Boston, MA, and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

 

Austin Stewart
Co-Founder; General Counsel, Armadealo, Inc.

Austin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University (1987) and a Juris Doctor (1990) and MBA (1991) from Boston University.  Austin is also a LEED AP.  Austin currently practices Real Estate and Construction Law in the Silicon Valley/San Francisco Bay Area, where he established his practice starting in the late 1990’s.  Currently a sole practitioner and real estate investor, Austin was Of Counsel with the Palo Alto office of DLA Piper LLP, a worldwide law firm, for nine years through late 2009.  Austin got his start as a full-time real estate attorney with Mandel Buder & Verges in San Francisco from 1997-2000.  Previously, from 1993 to 1997, Austin was the co-founder of a regional restaurant chain in Boise and Sun Valley, Idaho, where he served as the company’s chief executive and general counsel. 

In the course of his practice Austin has represented several large technology companies such as eBay, Cisco, Skype, Agilent Technologies and 3Com, as well as several national lenders and real estate investment companies such as Tishman-Speyer, Prudential, Burnham Pacific, Prologis, Comerica Bank and Bank of America.  Austin has also represented several startup companies, and is familiar with the challenges faced by small startups.  Austin’s business background and extensive real estate experience provide “real world” insight and strategic vision to assist Armadealo in maximizing its resources and growing the company. 

Scott Driscoll
Director of Business Development, Armadealo Inc.


Mr. Driscoll began his career in financial investments at Scudder Stevens & Clark in Boston. He traded in his financial education role for a teaching role as classroom instructor at the Atrium School in Watertown, MA. He has spent the last 15 years in technology sales with SkillSoft, Framework Technologies, and eData Resources.

Scott’s 15 years in technology sales includes 7 years with SkillSoft, an eLearning solutions company. He was responsible for $2.8M in annual sales in New England, developing new business relationships, as well as managing existing client accounts. He was also responsible for creating a new Inside Sales Closer department where he hired, trained, and managed a small team, generated new revenue stream for the company, and established 150+ new accounts in first 2 years.

Prior to that Scott worked with Framework Technologies, a collaborative project-communication software firm, as a Territory Manager. He was responsible for $1.4M in annual sales in the 6 state New England territory. He crafted enterprise solution deals at the VP and CXO level. Scott acted as liaison between Product Development Team and client and also coordinated and led product training for new members of sales team.

Previously Scott was sales manager with eData Resources, an environmental technology firm. He sold web based GIS intelligence products for commercial real estate properties as a means to manage potential liability. In his position Scott managed a team of 5; grew the Midwest territory from $650K to $1.3M, generated $100K+ revenue per month, was a consistent top sales performer, prospected and established business relationships with major national accounts, and acted as consultant and source of industry information.

Mr. Driscoll received his Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from St. Lawrence University.

He is married with three children and lives in Wellesley, MA.

Board of Advisors

Mark Fagan

Mark Fagan is currently a full-time father and manages investments on his own behalf. His most recent professional position was Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of EachNet, Inc., an auction-based online commerce platform based in Shanghai. Fagan joined EachNet in September 2000 and helped secure a $33M strategic investment in EachNet from eBay in 2002. In October 2003, Fagan oversaw the acquisition of EachNet by eBay for an enterprise value of $225M. From 1996 to 2000, Fagan served as CFO of SINA, Inc., a Chinese Internet portal headquartered in Beijing. During Fagan's tenure, SINA grew from 24 employees in Beijing to 850 employees with operations in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Taipei, and Sunnyvale CA. Fagan successfully raised three rounds of venture financing on behalf of SINA totaling $100M and oversaw the drafting of the company's S-1 in preparation for listing on NASDAQ. SINA currently has a market capitalization of $2.6 billion. Prior to joining SINA, Fagan spent four years as an Analyst and Associate in the Corporate Finance and Mergers and Acquisitions departments at Robertson, Stephens & Company, an investment bank based in San Francisco. During the final year of his tenure at Roberson, Fagan worked in Shanghai as a Senior Manager at Shanghai International Securities overseeing a joint venture between the two firms. Prior to joining Robertson, Fagan spent two years as a management consultant in Taiwan. Fagan graduated from Philips Exeter Academy in 1985 and received B.A.s in Economics and History from the University of Virginia in 1990.

 

Matthew Petersen
Senior Vice President
Hearst Magazines

Matthew Petersen joined Hearst in March 2010 as senior vice president of Hearst Magazines to head a new line of business, Hearst Marketing Services. Petersen came to Hearst from Meredith Corporation, where he served as senior vice president of Meredith Integrated Marketing, a position he had held since 2005.

At Meredith Integrated Marketing, Petersen spearheaded the transformation of the department from a custom-publishing unit to a turn-key marketing services provider and oversaw the integration of a number of marketing agencies acquired by Meredith, including O’Grady/Meyers, Genex, New Media Strategies and Big Communications. The rapid growth of the Meredith’s Integrated Marketing business earned Petersen the distinction of being named one of Media’s Most Intriguing People in 2008 by MIN (Media Industry Newsletter).

Petersen joined Meredith Integrated Marketing in 1999 as the executive director and was primarily responsible for sales, marketing and account management. In 2003, he was promoted to vice president and began overseeing all operations of the department. Prior to that, Petersen held a number of sales and marketing leadership roles in the publishing field.

Petersen is a graduate of St. Lawrence University, where he earned a degree in economics. He has attended numerous advanced management courses at The Wharton School, Columbia University and Northwestern University, Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Petersen sits on the Board of Directors of the Madison Square Boys and Girls Clubs, an organization serving nearly 8,000 children in underprivileged areas in New York City. He is also involved with ChildFund and several other youth-directed charities.
